AMANDA KELLY INTERNSHIP
During my 2024 internship with London-based textile company Amanda Kelly, I balanced studio-assistant responsibilities with a series of creative briefs. I developed designs and applied them to garment formats, gaining practical insight into the role, processes and workflows of a textile designer working in the industry.
This series responds to two separate design briefs for an autumn collection, connected through the use of similar colour palettes and repeat-pattern techniques. The first brief focused on a more structured textile print, an approach that aligned closely with my preferred way of working and allowed me to explore shape, rhythm and composition. The second brief centred on versatile floral designs and encouraged me to experiment with bolder colour combinations and a more organic visual language.
Working across these contrasting briefs strengthened my creative adaptability and helped me understand how different design approaches can contribute to a cohesive seasonal collection. It also developed my technical confidence in constructing seamless repeats in Photoshop and drawing digitally with a Wacom tablet.
