HERIATGE AND COMMUNITY

This project explores personal heritage and community through focused textile design. Drawing from archival family photographs, I created illustrations capturing narratives of everyday life to reflect their life, relationships, passions and experiences. I then translated into a considered repeat print for fashion application.
The project created a zero-waste garment, demonstrating strong technical pattern-cutting skills and a commitment to sustainable practice using naturla dyes and binder. Inspired by 1950s silhouettes and reinterpreted for a contemporary market, the design features an adjustable waist tie, multi-wear functionality, and a flexible, non-gendered fit allow the garment to adapt across sizes and styling preferences, extending product lifespan and supporting more responsible consumption.
The final outcome was presented through an art-directed editorial photoshoot, referencing the original family imagery through location and saturated, dream-like colour to create a cohesive visual identity.
